With summer just around the corner and the weather warming up, we wanted to remind our community about the importance of wearing sunscreen daily and the benefits it can have. Most of us grew up with a false misconception that wearing sunscreen is solely reserved for pool or beach days. However, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. Wearing sunscreen is extremely important and should be part of one’s daily routine. The sun beams ultraviolet rays and ultraviolet light, however unlike ultraviolet rays, ultraviolet light is invisible to humans. So even on those gloomy days when you think you don’t need sunscreen, you actually do. These ultraviolet rays and ultraviolet lights can be extremely harmful to your skin and can cause long-term ramifications, such as skin damage, skin aging, wrinkles, and skin cancer. When you wear sunscreen it acts as a shield on your skin, protecting your skin from harmful UVB and UVA rays. The sunscreen will scatter or reflect the harmful rays away from your skin. Another benefit of wearing sunscreen every day is that it will prevent aging and wrinkles. The more the sun hits your face and body, the faster it will age. Typically one’s hands, neck, and face are the first to start wrinkling. So if you’re interested in anti- aging remedies, apply sunscreen to these parts of your body daily! Take care of your skin, buy a good sunscreen with a high SPF (the higher the SPF, the longer the effects of sunscreen last) and apply it daily wherever the sun will hit you. We sell high quality sunscreens at our three medical facilities (Santa Monica, Sherman Oak, Beverly Hills) if you are interested come visit us!
