What does your garden have in common with your skin? If they’ve got moles, you probably don’t want them there! Now, we don’t do garden work here at The Mole Doctor®, but we can definitely help with your skin lesions. We’ve treated moles, skin tags, cherry angiomas, congenital nevi, and other types of skin lesions on plenty of patients, and we look forward to helping you with any issues you face. We use a very advanced and minimally invasive radiofrequency ablation technology that is used in relatively few clinics around the country. It is very safe and very effective, so we hope that you’ll consider us for your mole removal needs!

There are plenty of reasons moles can form, so there are plenty of reasons you might want them removed. The most important reason is if any of your moles are malignant, that is, if they may be cancerous. Moles are more likely to be cancerous if they meet one or more of the following criteria: (1) if they are black or otherwise oddly colored, (2) if they are oddly misshapen or asymmetrical, and (3) if they are particularly large, maybe larger than a pencil eraser. If a dermatologist sees moles like this, the dermatologist can check for cancer by using a biopsy, examining anything you may be concerned about, and sometimes simply remove any cancerous cells through a mole removal treatment.

Mole Removal Aftercare
An important step in the mole removal process is knowing how to take care of the treatment area after the procedure itself. This is also known as aftercare, and it is important to know the steps to keeping your treatment area safe so that you can get the great, minimally scarred results that we pride ourselves on at Mole Removal Los Angeles.

One important step in taking care of your treatment areas is ensuring that they are protected from excess water. A bit of moisture won’t be the end of the world (you also don’t want the treatment areas to dry out), but excess water can harm the treatment area and healing process, especially if the exposure is within three days of the treatment. Accordingly, it’s important to know how to properly bathe if your treatment area is in a sensitive spot that’s hard to avoid getting wet in the shower. For example, if the treatment area is on the forearm, that’s much easier to keep away from water than a mole on the torso or back. If the treatment area is on the forearm, you can simply raise your arm away from the water stream, which might be frustrating, but it probably isn’t too much to handle. If excess moisture is unavoidable in the shower, though you might have to take different measures. We recommend taking a sponge bath, which is an all-over washing done with a sponge or washcloth. After a few days, though, you’ll be back to bathing as normal!

The other important thing to know is to keep your treatment area out of too much direct sunlight. Unlike with keeping it away from water, this may actually be more difficult on limbs like the forearms, which aren’t always naturally covered by your clothes. However, there are always solutions. You can always wear a long-sleeved shirt or long pants. If it’s really hot, though (which certainly happens in those Los Angeles summers), you might prefer to just cover the treatment area somehow, be it with a bandage or other strap.
