Jim Ryuan once said, “ Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.” Developing healthy habits can improve your overall quality of life. What is a healthy habit? A healthy habit is any behavior that you want to incorporate in your everyday life that improves your mental, emotional, and physical health. The key to changing your life is in changing your habits. We have suggested six healthy habits that we believe can improve all aspects of your life. Let’s be healthy and confident!

Have Breakfast

Having breakfast is a healthy habit that should be incorporated in your everyday life, not just on weekends. Having a healthy breakfast starts your metabolism and prepares your body for the day ahead. Studies have shown that having breakfast in the morning decreases hunger and cravings throughout the day. Whether you prefer an egg scramble, or something lighter like yogurt, just don’t skip it.

Drink Water

Proper hydration is key for keeping one’s skin healthy, glowing, and hydrated. Your skin is the largest organ in your body and water is one of the components it is made out of. Drinking plenty of water daily can help improve the skin’s complexion, reduce inflammation, slow aging, and tighten the skin. Water does this by flushing out toxins you have in your body.

Exercise

It is no secret that working out is key to helping the body perform at its best and to build strength and endurance. According to the Mayo Clinic, there are major benefits to exercising when one can. These benefits involve weight-control, preventing the risk of poor health, an improved mood, more energy, better sleep, and exercising can be fun!

Meditate

Meditation is a practice that trains one’s mind to be aware. Meditation teaches how to observe your thoughts and feelings in a mindful manner, rather than reacting to them. This practice allows one to develop a healthy sense of perspective by being completely present.

Sleep

Getting at least eight hours of sleep is a healthy habit that should be prioritized more often. Having a good night’s sleep is just as important as eating healthy or exercising. Good sleep improves concentration, productivity, and immune function. It’s essential to give your body proper rest so it can function to the best of its ability.

Practice Gratitude

Gratitude is one of the most powerful emotions a human can have. Google defines gratitude as the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. Gratitude is expressing appreciation for everything or anything one has. It is giving energy and emotion towards the beautiful things in life. It has been scientifically proven that gratitude improves physical health, psychological health, and increases mental strength.
